Gameplay
Monster Zero (MZ) is a formidable fighter with the potential to dominate the battlefield when used strategically. MZ possesses a versatile set of abilities and strategies that can be employed to gain the upper hand in combat.
One effective tactic when playing as MZ is to utilize its first attack as a baiting tool. This attack has decent range and can be used to lure opponents into exposing themselves or wasting their powerful attacks. Once they have committed, follow up with MZ's second attack for maximum damage. This combo can be especially potent when combined with a speed-focused build, allowing you to quickly evade and escape without being punished frequently.
It's important to note that MZ's ground combat abilities are solid, but its speed in that mode is not particularly impressive. It is advisable to avoid extended ground battles, especially if you haven't invested skill points into speed. Instead, focus on capitalizing on MZ's aerial maneuverability and hit-and-run tactics.
One of MZ's weaknesses lies in its wings, which can be exploited by smaller fliers. To mitigate this vulnerability, practice turning around and spinning when an enemy approaches. This technique allows you to trade blows more successfully and can leave your opponents confused about where to target. Mastering this maneuver will require dedication and practice.
Against ground kaiju opponents, it's essential to bait their attacks and counter with precision. By carefully observing their movements and timing, you can lure them into wasting their powerful attacks, leaving them vulnerable to your own strikes. MZ's combat effectiveness against ground-based opponents lies in its ability to avoid direct confrontations and choose the right moments to strike.
Always be vary of your movement and position as well as your enemies movements and positions as well. MZ requires full awareness and positioning as one uncalculated movement allows your opponents to take advantage of your mistakes and punish you heavily for them. Always get the best positioning you can and do not go to a position where you will have a clear disadvantage as the fight will be turned against you if you do not reposition.
MZ's passive abilities, such as the R Roar Buff and Alpha Roar, provide valuable bonuses in combat. The R Roar Buff increases MZ's damage output by 15% and activates a 70% damage reduction when you have 10 HP points. This instant skill can be used to deflect incoming beams or projectiles, allowing you to rush forward while taking reduced damage. The Alpha Roar, on the other hand, is an incredibly powerful ability that deals damage to nearby enemies when the Inner Storm Bar is fully charged. For maximum effectiveness, it's recommended to use the ground version of Alpha Roar, as it offers a longer duration and higher damage output. However, keep in mind that speed points will reduce the damage of Alpha Roar, so plan your build accordingly.
Getting behind terrain to heal against ground kaiju where they cannot see you is a very good tactic as due to MZ's hp being high it has better regen than most other kaiju. If you need to refill your inner storm terrain cover works wonders against ground kaiju as they can't see you but be careful as they can try to get to you. The best way to use cover is by going to elevated spaces which ground kaiju can't reach.
Use the ground alpha roar against ground kaiju while taking cover to avoid hp loss, use the air version of the alpha roar against fliers as the ground version locks you in place and gives fliers enough time to deal a good amount of damage and starting the fight in their favor.
Use your 4th attack in water and then get out of the water allowing you to use your land bean which cancels regen and deals 2k damage MZ loses to every single kaiju in a beam clash so prioritizing baiting your opponents beams.
To enhance MZ's evasiveness, incorporate barrel rolling and reverse flying techniques into your gameplay (Use an attack go downwards and spin your mouse all around while holding a or d to use barrel rolls. ) Barrel rolling makes MZ harder to hit and can confuse opponents trying to target its wings. Reverse flying is another effective strategy to counter the vulnerability of MZ's wings. By flying low and utilizing unpredictable movements, you can make it more challenging for opponents to exploit this weak point.
In conclusion, MZ is a versatile and powerful fighter that requires strategic gameplay to unleash its full potential. Master the art of baiting and timing your attacks, exploit weaknesses in your opponents' defenses, and utilize MZ's aerial prowess. Incorporate barrel rolling and reverse flying to make MZ a challenging target. With practice and a well-planned strategy, you can become a formidable force on the battlefield and dominate servers with ease.
MZ Counters:
MZ faces challenges primarily from skilled small fliers such as Titanus Mosura, Titanus Rodan, Battra, Voodon, Gigan, and USS Argo. These agile opponents can abuse MZ's wing hurtbox without punishment due to its smaller melee hitboxes. Fliers with comparable DPS, like Heisei King Ghidorah, can be problematic, but skilled MZ players can handle them. MZ can contend with Destoroyah by capitalizing on their mistakes. however inexperienced MZ players can be countered by skilled Muto Prime, Eva-01, Cleric Muto, Kamakura-San, and Mechagodzilla 2021 due to their grounding and anti air attacks such as missiles/projectiles with high speeds/attacks that have good vertical hitboxes/attacks that can instantly ground if not paid attention.

Build #1: 5/1/6/8 |
Build #2: 0/0/10/10 |
Build #3: 10/0/0/10 |
This build primarily emphasizes achieving a sufficiently high HP pool to withstand most attacks, even in the event of an error. Additionally, it prioritizes maintaining agility, effectively ensuring a combination of durability and nimbleness for optimal performance.
|
While yes, this build was mainly focused on utilizing pre nerf Air Draconian Tempest's insane range to win it still is viable. This build grants you 91.8 speed and with that, you can easily dodge projectiles and use 2nd attack to bait all your opponent's attacks and swoop in for free damage and instantly get away without being punished.
|
This build focuses on the use of DR passives, ALPHA ROAR, and brute force to tank your opponents. When running this build you will be slower in exchange for more hp, more dps, and R ROAR DR. You will struggle with Kaiju who targets your wing hitboxes so be vary of that.
